College & Career Centers
Recipients: High School Students
High school students who don't know how to apply for college or who wait too long to get ready for college might not be prepared academically, fiscally or emotionally. They could miss out on opportunities for scholarships and other financial aid. Or worse, they might not know that THEY could go to college!
In keeping with the Long Range Plan, PVUSD is striving to create a college-going culture throughout the district. Having this reputation will give our students an advantage for getting accepted into the best colleges and universities.
With this in mind, a high school College-Going Center program is being developed. This program would initially be developed at one high school site and then expanded to include all high schools in PVUSD.
The Center's focus will be to assist students by providing college-going information which includes:
· college selection
· course requirements
· filing out applications
· essay writing
· test preparation
· scholarships applications
· financial aid
The center will be equipped with software, computers and knowledgeable staff to provide students with helpful information about waivers, grants, scholarships, etc.
