At the request of Paradise Valley School District's Superintendent, Dr. Jim Lee, The Foundation for Public Education is launching a $1,000,000 Capital Campaign for CREST, a new school specializing in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education.
CREST will provide Paradise Valley students with three specialized programs including Biotechnology ̶ Research and Development, Biotechnology - Sustainability, and Engineering.
The CREST curriculum will be integrated and thematic, with high expectations for teaching and learning. Students will collaborate with peers, teachers, universities, and industry experts to gain valuable experiences through practical application of theoretical knowledge.
The theme for CREST, STEM education and other programs at Paradise Valley Schools that the Foundation supports is an emphasis on the three R's - Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships.
The new state-of-the-art facility, to be located on the Paradise Valley High School campus at 40th Street and Bell Road, is opening in August 2010 with a select freshman class of approximately 150 students. CREST will be designed from the ground up as student-centered teaching and learning facility.
